Return of Deceased Expenses for either the preparation and transportation of the deceased to his/her destination in Canada or country of origin, to a maximum of $3,000 per person, or the expense of cremation or burial at the place of death, to a maximum of $2,000. Effective Date of Coverage
and Waiting Periods
Coverage starts on the latest of the following:

- on your effective date of insurance as shown on your application; or:
 
- the date you arrive in Canada from your country of origin (there is a 48 hour waiting period).

Coverage starts on the latest of the following:

- the date and time the completed application and premium are accepted by TIC or its representative; or:

-  the date indicated as the effective date in your confirmation of coverage; or:
 
- the date/time you exit your country of origin.

Waiting Periods: if you purchase your policy: a) after you have exited your country of origin; or b) less than 5 days prior to the expiry date of your existing TIC policy; or c) after the expiry date of an existing TIC policy, then coverage for losses resulting from any sickness will begin 48 hours after the effective date. Any sickness that manifests itself during the 48-hour waiting period is not covered even if related expenses are incurred after the 48-hour waiting period.

- the date the contract comes into force
 
- the date of arrival in Canada if the insurance is purchased prior to arrival in Canada
 
- 72 hours following purchase, if purchased within 30 days of arrival in Canada

Termination Date of Coverage Coverage ends on the earliest of the following:

- when you leave Canada to return to your country of origin;
 
- when your period of coverage ends;
 
- date GMS returns you to your country of origin;
 
- the first day you become insured under a government plan.
Coverage ends on the earliest of the following:
 
 - the date and time you arrive in your country of origin; or:
- the date indicated as the expiry date in your confirmation of coverage; or:
- the date you become eligible for coverage under a Canadian government health insurance plan.
  Coverage ends on the first of the following dates:
 
- the expiry date of the contract, or: 
- the departure date from Canada, whether planned or premature, or:
- the date government coverage is effective, or: 
- the date the covered person is no longer eligible.

Refund of Premium A full refund is available if the entire trip is cancelled prior to the effective date of coverage.

A partial refund is available if:
 
a) You return to your country of origin and a minimum of thirty (30) days remains unused on the policy; or
 
b) You become eligible and covered under a provincial or territorial Government plan during the period of coverage.

No refunds are available if claims have been incurred under this insurance plan.

All refunds are subject to an administration fee of $20 per policy and no refund will be issued for amounts under $5.
Refunds are payable when:
 
- The entire trip is cancelled prior to the effective date.
 
- You return to your country of origin 15 days or more prior to the expiry date.
 
- You become insured under a Canadian provincial or territorial health/medical plan.
 
 Premium refunds must be obtained from the agent where coverage was originally purchased unless purchased directly from TIC.
 
- There will be no refund of premium if any losses have been incurred whether or not a claim has been made.
 
Premiums which are 100% refundable are subject to a $10 administration fee.
- must be submitted to the Insurer's authorized agent from whom the insurance was purchased, before the effective date of the contract.
 
- following an early return, a refund could be made for the unused days, provided no claim was submitted and no claim file is opened.
 
- administrative fees of $25 per contract are deducted from any refund, except for refund due to cancellation of the contract before the effective date of the contract.
